Our Story

Zuri Eight, our luxury rental brand, was born from a shared dream — to blend our roots with the places that inspire us. “Zuri” means beautiful in Swahili, and “Eight” symbolizes eternal happiness. Together, they express what we hope every guest experiences: warmth, joy, and connection.

Zuri Eight, Bermuda Dunes is our first project — the beginning of a journey shaped by culture, creativity, and heart. I’m Vishal, raised in Tanzania (East Africa), where the shoreline feels alive, the people are warm, and the land stretches from the heights of Kilimanjaro to the wild plains of Serengeti. My wife, Leah, grew up in the Philippines, a place with a similar rhythm — rich traditions, vibrant colors, and a deep connection to nature. Those influences guided the design of our first retreat, created with an Afrohemian theme: a soulful blend of African warmth, bohemian texture, and modern desert minimalism.

Outside, we reimagined the entire backyard into a serene retreat — a new pool and spa, shaded patio, putting green, and bocce ball court — a space for guests to relax, play, and make lasting memories. Inside, every detail was chosen with intention. We transformed the garage into an Afrohemian-inspired game room, remodeled the common bathroom, and furnished the home with carefully selected pieces from high-end stores to balance modern style with comfort.

The front yard reflects the spirit of the desert — natural, grounded, and welcoming. From the moment you arrive, our hope is that you feel the beginning of a stay that is inspiring, joyful, and deeply comfortable.

We’re happy to partner with APEK Rentals, led by founder Joshua Gilbert — a Palm Springs native and third-generation Coachella Valley local. After years in real estate, Joshua built APEK on professionalism, creativity, and a genuine love for hospitality. His team is dedicated to delivering seamless, 5-star guest experiences through attentive service and thoughtful care.
